A new era in Jones County law enforcement training begins as the former Sandersville Police Academy has now become the Jones County Law Enforcement Training Academy sponsored by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Joe Berlin.
The new home for the Training Academy will be the Jones County Sheriff’s Department Training Center located at 130 North 12th Avenue in Laurel.
JCSD Training Director Eddy Ingram notes, “We deeply appreciate the support from the Town of Sandersville over the years and for their graciousness and hospitality.” Ingram adds, “The move to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department will provide a better opportunity for the Training Academy to grow and hopefully serve more people in the long run. For the future, I can say that I look forward to it being all that we can make of it. Hopefully, we can improve services, and who knows, even become being a bigger and better Training Academy and expand into other areas of training.”
Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin advises, “We are excited about this new chapter and the opportunity to host training for law enforcement officers from Jones County and surrounding areas. We have big plans and even bigger dreams for what this will mean for our fellow law enforcement officers as JCSD Training Director Eddy Ingram begins instruction and training. Stay tuned, there is more news to come regarding our training services that will be offered.”
Anyone with inquiries or need additional information about attending the Jones County Law Enforcement Training Academy and becoming a part-time, state-certified law enforcement officer is asked to contact Jones County Sheriff’s Department Training Director Eddy Ingram at 601-319-9519 or via email at eingram@co.jones.ms.us.
