Johnny and his family made their way to Hattiesburg, MS in 1976, where he worked in the pest control business for over 40 years. Johnny owned and operated Stevens Pest Control for 30 years. In 2016, Stevens Pest Control became part of Holifield Pest Control where he continued to work.
He was devoted to his Catholic faith, family, work, and his community. He was a member of St. Fabian Catholic Church and lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a dedicated member of the Hattiesburg Rotary Club, presiding as a former president, and in which he served on many committees. He was involved with the Lamar County volunteer fire department and various youth sports throughout his lifetime.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kathryne Holman Stevens, sons Joel Stevens (Kami), John A. "Jay" Stevens (Stephanie), and daughter Jennifer A. Stevens-Nicholson (Harold), grandchildren, John David Stevens, Maggie Stevens, Ryne Stevens, Lennon Stevens, all of Hattiesburg, MS, sisters Glenda Bailey (Collins) Batesville, MS, Sylvia Ross (Jack) Houston, TX, Susan Dryja (Bob) Los Alamos, NM, Elaine Rea (Doug) Scottsdale, AZ, and brother, Carey Stevens, Memphis, TN. He is also survived by brother-in-laws, Frank Gammill of Hazlehurst, MS, and Chet Holman (Carolyn) of Hattiesburg, MS, along with many nieces and nephews, whom all dearly loved Uncle Johnny.
Memorials can be made to the Hattiesburg Rotary Club or St. Fabian Catholic Church building fund.
Visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5pm-8pm.
Funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 10am. There will be visitation one hour prior to funeral service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
