Head coach Dolores Deasley’s defending MACJC/Region 23 champions are the only team from the state and region listed in this year’s poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bobcats posted a 15-2 record in 2016, advancing to the NJCAA District H playoffs.
JCJC plays three scrimmage games before opening regular season play at 5 p.m. on Sept. 1 at home vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The Lady Bobcats are at East Central at 3 p.m. on Aug. 18, host West Alabama at 6 p.m. on Aug. 25 and travel to Delta State at 3 p.m. on Aug. 28.
Defending national champion Paradise Valley (Arizona) is rated No. 1 in the poll, followed by Monroe (New York), Tyler (Texas), Laramie County (Wyoming) and Eastern Florida State College (Florida).
JCJC’s only two losses last season were to Tyler and Eastern Florida.
