Ruby Dean Black, 56, of Sumrall, passed away July 5, 2017, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Lumberton followed by burial in Bounds Cemetery.

Ruby was the office manager at Hudson’s Salvage/Channel Control Merchants for many years. Because of her love and compassion for stray and unwanted animals, her home became a safe haven for any she saw in need.

Ruby was preceded in death by her father, Dudley Jay “Buck” Lee.

She is survived by her husband, Scott Black of Sumrall; her daughter, Lacey Picariello (Chris) of Cypress, TX; stepdaughters, Elissa Bower (Andy) of Marietta, GA and Jessi Flynt (Warren) of Oak Grove; her mother, Elsie Clark of Pistol Ridge; one sister, Brenda Johnson (Jeff) of Pistol Ridge; two brothers, Dudley Lee (Patty) of Petal and Bobby Lee (Ponda) of Dixie Community; grandchildren, Cameron Picariello of Cypress, TX, Hannah, Lucy and Henry Flynt, all of Oak Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hub City Humane Society, 95 Jackson Rd., Hattiesburg, MS 39401, in her name.
