On Sept. 22, the Golden Eagles host Rice in their Conference USA opener for Parent and Family Weekend. The annual celebration gives families of students the opportunity to connect with their student in their new home, visit campus, and experience life as a Golden Eagle. Families will have the opportunity to meet other families, interact with faculty and University administrators, tailgate and experience a Southern Miss football Saturday. The Rice game will also be the annual M-Club Hall of Fame ceremony. Southern Miss will induct new members to the M-Club Hall of Fame, recognizing the accomplishments of deserving athletes from their time at Southern Miss. The annual weekend includes an induction banquet the night before the game as well as pre-game and in-game festivities.
Southern Miss will also recognize First Responders in the community. Police, Fire and EMS will be recognized during the game as first responders can receive discounted tickets for their families. “Our first responders play such an important role in the community and this is a great opportunity to allow the community to show our appreciation for all that they do,” said Stephen Pugh, Senior Associate AD for External Operations.
A new addition for the 2018 season will be Yoga at the Rock. Fans will have the opportunity to take part in a yoga session on the field the morning of the game. The unique experience will promote health and wellness in a unique setting and allow fans to start their football game day off on a positive note. There will be discounted tickets available to Law Firms, for Law Firm Appreciation. Firms can order discounted tickets to enjoy the game. It will also be Touch-a-Truck day in Junior Eagle Fun Land as kids will be able to explore and touch several different kinds of trucks along with the typical inflatable bounce houses, located in its new location for 2018, Spirit Park.
Last season, the University of Southern Mississippi announced new safety measures, including a clear bag policy and an updated golf cart policy. Fans can also continue to take advantage of the Season ticket holder referral program. For each successful referral, the original season ticket holder will receive their choice of a $20 future credit on their ticket account up to $200 or a $20 voucher for concessions in M.M. Roberts Stadium up to $100. On the tenth successful referral the fan will receive a personalized Southern Miss football jersey. On the 15th successful referral, the fan will receive an all-inclusive trip to a road game.
